Deck 27 - Starboard Corridor <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
The stardrive corridors of the vessel are not quite as spacious as the saucer section's, but still allow for easy access throughout the ship. The walls and bulkheads are a dark titanium colour, with vertical inlays every meter of a dark burgundy colour matching the carpeting. The carpeting down the center of the corridor is dark burgundy with a light pewter-coloured outer edge. Recessed lighting in the ceiling and along the floor boards provides slightly muted illumination, adjusting in colour as the alert status of the vessel changes. Black, glossy panelling runs intermittently along the bulkheads at shoulder height, allowing access to the LCARS interface.
To port is main engineering with access further port to the Auxiliary Bridge. Quarters are available throughout this deck.

Johnson is busy running a cleaner along the corridor, whistling softly as he works.

Worthington approaches, looking left and right along the length of the corridor as he does so. He seems to at first be making for the starboard lift, but something catches his eye, a crewman performing some sort of cleaning duties. He makes his way over to that crewman. Is the look on his face one of puzzlement, recognition? He walks over and says, "Evening crewman."

Johnson looks up from his work, "Evening, Commander. Something I can do you for?"

Worthington nods. "Yes. What is your name crewman?" he asks.

Johnson answers promptly, "Crewman Johnson, sir. Assigned to cleaning the corridors down here in the Stardrive this cycle."

Worthington nods. "And, your first name crewman?" he asks.

Johnson looks puzzled at that, "Paul, Commander. Is there something wrong?"

Worthington looks puzzled as well. "Actually crewman, could we have a chat?" he says. "My office. I will inform your supervisor of the delay to your present task."

Johnson answers, "Of course, sir."

Worthington nods. "This way please," he says, triggering the starboard lift when he reaches it.

Chief of Security's Office - Saucer <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
This dedicated office is large and designed to meet the needs of the officer and billet assigned to it. The carpet is steel-blue with navy-blue trim, with the bulkheads, walls, and furniture in a subdued pewter colour. The room is bathed in a soft glow from the overhead lighting panels, and a glossy black panel set into the bulkhead opposite the door provides access to an LCARS interface. A sizeable desk is positioned in the center of the room, with a tall backed swivel chair behind it. A display curves out of the desk with a touchpad set into the desk at its base, and on the opposite end is a tall, built-in lamp. In front of the desk are two mid-sized chairs, and two workstations are built into the bulkheads on either side of the room in small cubicles.

Worthington takes a seat at his desk and motions to a chair across from it. "Would you like any refreshments crewman?" he asks.

Johnson follows along still carrying the cleaner, "No sir." He sets the cleaner down next to the chair and sits down, "Did I do something wrong, sir?"

Worthington shakes his head. "No crewman, but," he pauses. "You were reported missing over a month ago, presumed dead. I am surprised but happy to see that this is not the case, or doesn't appear to be. We are naturally very curious as to how something like this could come about."

"Missing? Me?" Paul says surprised. "If I was missing, then why was assigned to holodeck buffer cleaning last month?"

Worthington shakes his head. "I have no idea," he says. "But I'd like to find out. What is your chain of command?" he asks.

Johnson frowns in thought, "Currently my supervisor is Petty Officer Rakshara, Rakshatha, Rak something that I can't pronounce properly, Commander. Last month I had a few supervisors, depending on which cleaning assignment I was given."

Worthington nods. "I understand," he says. "Are you assigned to operations or engineering? I would like to establish at what point you were reported missing, and who might have done such a thing. The computer records were also altered to indicate that you transfered off the ship when you did not. Are you aware of the murder that happened? It was around the time that the computer was offline for a few days, just before that."

"I guess I'm under Operations as cleaner, Commander," Paul answers with a shrug. "Lowest of the low, I have to take what assignments are given to me until I can begin to specialize. I'm hoping to get into Security eventually, sir, though my current assignments are letting me learn the ship."

Worthington nods. "Security," he says. "That's a field I know a good bit about." He smiles. "Commander Ki'Vek oversees the operations department. Between the 3 of us, perhaps we can find out just who reported you missing in the first place. I'd also like you to get checked out by sickbay, just so we know that you are who you say you are. After all, presumed dead and alive and well are radically different states of being." He pauses. "Do you remember any of your supervisors from around a month ago, when the computer was down?"

Johnson shakes his head, "It was rather a confusing time, sir. Some days I had two or three who claimed that I was assigned to them because of the computer problems." He pauses and says, "I did get my housing assignment changed last month. One of my former bunkmates said my 'nocturnal emissions' were disturbing their rest, so I got moved to my current quarters."

Worthington nods. "Did you ever fail to show up for a duty shift, or were you claimed by multiple people on multiple shifts perhaps?" he asks.

Johnson shakes his head, "I always reported to who I was told to report to, even if it kept changing mid-shift, Commander. Even was sent to report to the security duty station in the Stardrive, only to be sent away because they didn't have me listed."

Worthington considers. "Sounds like hell," he says. "We officers tend to have reasonably ordered lives, but we have hells of our own to deal with at times, and this is one of them." He pauses. "It would still leave the issue as to why someone would go through the trouble of altering your service record. Possibly to throw us off, but we were all here thinking that you were dead. There weren't any unusual orders or assignments you were given during any of those times, no incidents or issues that didn't really make sense outside the context of broader events?"

"It was a chaotic time without the computer, sir," Paul states. "I had hoped that assignment to security would've been a chance for me to start learning towards a specialization, but it was disappointing to be sent away to keep cleaning. And the holodecks are the worst for cleaning assignments."

Worthington nods. "All the diodes, 3 decks high, plus whatever replicated matter isn't dealt with if there's an issue. I'd imagine," he says. "Probably better than some cramped up jefferies tube though." He ponders. "So someone in your chain of command reassigned you down to stardrive security. Was that deck 23, deck 31?" he asks. "And when you got there, there was no record of you having been assigned?"

Johnson promptly answers, "Deck 31, Commander. Deck 23 is flyboy country, no security stations there that I'm aware of. And they didn't know who I was or why I had been sent there."

Worthington nods. "Interesting," he says, pondering. "I think you may have been more helpful than you realize." He smiles. "Yeah, the other stardrive stations outside of the complex itself are on 19 and 24. 31 is pretty out of the way. Not a whole lot there, and the lifts don't go past deck 32 anyway. You have any idea who was working down there at the time? I get if you don't. Thousands of faces, and if you don't see someone more than once, but I figured I'd ask, just in case."

Johnson shakes his head, "I never asked for a name. Merely reported that I was sent for duty only to be told to go away, they didn't know who I was or why I was there."

Worthington nods. "Thank you," he says, thinking. "I'd still like you to get a checkout from medical so we can all be reassured, and if anything comes up, we'll let you know. If you get any grief about your time away from your duties, send the complainent to me." He types on a padd and hands it to the crewman. "Give that to your supervisor. And, one more thing." He hands another padd over. "On that, could you put your current duty assignment and quarters there? We'll need to update our records concerning you, as they're not exactly in the best of shape." He smiles. "We don't want to lose you again crewman, or anyone else for that matter."

Johnson enters Enlisted 20S5 as his quarters before handing the padd back to the Commander, "If it might help, I had been cleaning portside on deck 19 when I was suddenly told to report to security on deck 31, sir." He stands up and picks up his gear, "Is there anything else, sir?"

Worthington shakes his head. "Aside from a quick visit to medical, no crewman, that is all. Thank you for your time this evening."

Johnson salutes and heads on out.
