The '''Manticore-class''' is an experimental design incorporating the new Dynamic Tactical System (DTS), a multi-targeting tactical system specifically designed for use with the also experimental Phaser Lotus weapon system. Combined, DTS and the Phaser Lotus enable a vessel so equipped to unleash up to eight volleys of sustained phaser power before recharge is required. Additionally, those eight volleys can be towards a single target or multiple targets simultaneously.
