The Bajoran Militia, also known as the Bajoran Defense Force, or BDF, is the military arm of the Bajoran Republic. It is charged with the safety of Bajor, and the Bajoran colony worlds, including Free Haven, Dreon, and New Bajor.

Following the admission of the Republic into the UFP, Bajor continued to maintain a separate military branch. Many of the Bajoran colony worlds feared the Federation, likening their presence to that of the Cardassian occupation. Thus the Militia continued to patrol the colony worlds in vessels flying the Republic flag.

The Bajoran Militia is divided into four primary arms:

  • Aerial Guard - the vessels and crews of the space force
  • City Watch - a planet and base side police force
  • Space Guard - the engineering division
  • Special Security Forces - the intelligence division
