The Manticore-class is an experimental design incorporating the new Dynamic Tactical System (DTS), a multi-targeting tactical system specifically designed for use with the also experimental Phaser Lotus weapon system. Combined, DTS and the Phaser Lotus enable a vessel so equipped to unleash up to eight volleys of sustained phaser power before recharge is required. Additionally, those eight volleys can be towards a single target or multiple targets simultaneously.
History
Named after the legendary creature from ancient Persian mythology, similar to the Egyptian sphinx.
Technical Data
At the time of its construction, the Manticore-class vessel was the most offensively powerful vessel in Starfleet. Provided the combined DTS and Phaser Lotus systems are enabled and operational.
