Station Medical Foyer <Emissary Station>
The corridors of the station are spacious and allow for easy access throughout the level. The walls and bulkheads are a subdued olive colour. This is accentuated by horizontal and vertical inlays in the walls of a slightly darker sage, creating a half-meter square tile-like effect. The carpeting down the center of the corridor is a pale mint colour, then to the walls it is a roughly a half-meter wide emerald colour, mimicking the colourful landscape on much of Bajor. Large curved sconces in the shape of the Bajoran emblem are placed evenly high up along both sides of the wide corridor, providing ample illumination. Additional recessed lighting along the floor boards adjusts in colour should the alert status of the station change. Spread intermittently at junctures are a single piece of glossy panelling, allowing partial access to the LCARS interface.

Lieutenant (jg) Davis arrives from Commercial Hub.

Miriella is standing near the Medical Foyer's reception desk. She's wearing a set of medical scrubs over her uniform. Her hair has been pulled back into a braid to keep it out of her way. A small, white stick pokes out of the side of her mouth. She looks, for lack of a better word, weary. She has had a day. Presently, her attention is on a PADD in her hand, but she's really just staring past it.

The doors slide open, and Davis enters the medical foyer. Her pace is quick, but her face is showing a lot less energy. Just like Telula, she looks tired, maybe even deeply so. Still, she tries to muster a smile when she sees her. "Good day, doctor."

"It's not," Miri is ready to say. She takes a breath and then, as if on cue, manufactures a return smile as she sets her PADD down on the reception desk. Miri reaches up and pulls the stick out of her mouth, revealing that it's actually a lollipop.

"It sure isn't," is probably what Davis would have replied. Instead, she furrows her brow. "What's that?" She's looking at the lollipop. Has she never seen a lollipop? "Nevermind. Captain T'Shaav just told me about Ko. The real Ko."

"The head of Starfleet Medical in the sector has an affection for ancient medical practices," Miri replies softly, focusing on this minor detail as long as she can. "On ancient Earth, doctors used to give these candies to children for being good patients," she explains, repeating back what she was told once upon a time. Miri places the lollipop back into her mouth. "Right," she replies, not sounding too surprised that word is getting out. "I spent much of my day with the real Ko." Miri turns and plucks a wrapped lollipop from a small container on the reception desk. She holds it out for Davis to take.

Davis looks at it, turning it this way and that in her hands. She touches the wrapper, thankfully realizing it's not for eating, and remove it a second later. Then she puts the lollipop in her mouth. "Oh. It's sweet," she says matter-of-factly with it still in her mouth, though she removes it a moment later. Her expression darkens a bit as she continues. "Captain T'Shaav wants me to look into her, including figuring out when she died. What can you tell me?"

Telula tilts her head towards her shoulder. "Ten months ago," she answers matter-of-factly, her tone suggesting some confusion. "It is in the secondary autopsy report."

Davis looks confused. She freezes for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts. "Did I say died? Sorry, I meant when she was replaced. She wants me to know exactly when and where she was replaced with the impostor."

Your telepathic ability allows you to hear Davis's thoughts, "I need to pull it together."

Telula's eyebrows rise and she seems to relax slightly. "You did," she answers gently, nodding slightly. Miri takes another breath, a different apprehension taking over. "Well, at risk of sounding rude, I believe the secondary autopsy contains everything I could say," she replies delicately. "I didn't leave anything out." Miri's eyes unfocus for a moment, then her eyebrows rise again. "My orders were to determine a cause of death and confirm if the deceased is actually Lieutenant Ko," she explains. "An autopsy. But... the body was delivered with a PADD of information from the original autopsy completed a week ago. There might be additional information that wasn't relevant to me." Miri nods and pops the lollipop back into her mouth. "Things that weren't relevant to my task, but might be relevant to yours, you know?" she says. "I can transfer the data to you, if you like."

"You're right. I'm sorry about that, doctor," Davis says, trying to smile again. "And yes, I'd appreciate any information you have, if you don't mind forwarding it to me. I actually did have some questions for you, beyond what was in the report. I was wondering if it's possible to manipulate the apparent time of death in a way that wouldn't have been caught in an autopsy. Like some way of preserving the body or accelerating decomposition that wouldn't be easily detectable, or that wouldn't have been caught with the tests that were carried out."

Telula falls silent, thinking about the question for a few seconds. "Well, I suppose so," she answers. Then, a frown forms. "Even just preserving a body in extreme cold can make a time of death appear to be more recent than it really was. Starfleet Medical determined that she had been allowed to decompose for ten months prior to her discovery... Any manipulation would have been first missed by them, and then by me and Doctor Sawyer." She plucks the lollipop from her mouth. "But, is that possible? I think it would be a mistake to say it's not." After another long pause, she nods. "I suppose I know how I'll be spending my night, now," she comments.

"I'm sorry to make your night even worse," Davis replies, a note of sympathy on her face. "It's probably not the case, but I just had to make sure because this might be an act of misdirection, specifically to mislead us as to when and how she was replaced." She gets a beep on one of her PADD's. "Oh. One of my simulations needs me. Thank you, doctor." She taps her PADDs against her hand as an apologetic look crosses her face. "Though I unfortunately might have to bother you again later."

Miri waves her hand in a friendly, dismissive fashion. "No need to be sorry," she replies. "It's an excellent point to bring up. I'll forward the data over to you and get to work reinspecting the remains for signs of manipulation." She manufactures another smile and nods. "And, it's no bother. Really. I'm sorry, I'm just tired. and, well, everything."

"Get some rest, doctor!" Davis shouts on her way out. "Non-medical doctor's orders!"

"Not yet," Miri replies with a smirk. Then, she turns to head back into the ward.
