Station Medical Foyer <Emissary Station>
The corridors of the station are spacious and allow for easy access throughout the level. The walls and bulkheads are a subdued olive colour. This is accentuated by horizontal and vertical inlays in the walls of a slightly darker sage, creating a half-meter square tile-like effect. The carpeting down the center of the corridor is a pale mint colour, then to the walls it is a roughly a half-meter wide emerald colour, mimicking the colourful landscape on much of Bajor. Large curved sconces in the shape of the Bajoran emblem are placed evenly high up along both sides of the wide corridor, providing ample illumination. Additional recessed lighting along the floor boards adjusts in colour should the alert status of the station change. Spread intermittently at junctures are a single piece of glossy panelling, allowing partial access to the LCARS interface.

A rush of casualties are brought into the medical foyer by station security and citizens alike. The majority of the wounded are Bajoran protesters. There is a short flurry from the medical staff as they spring up to handle the crush of injured people.

Telula glances up as her staff spring to action. Her eyebrows rise as she realizes what's happening. "Doctor, please set up a triage station and begin grouping patients according to how severe their condition is," she tells one of the duty officers. Miri surveys the crowd coming in, squints as she does some mental math, and then turns to one of the nurses. "Please prepare ten vials of metorapan and ten vials of bicaridine for anyone who might be allergic," she tells them. Miri brings both hands up and tangles them in her own hair as she takes stock of the chaos.

One of the security officers breaks with the group and approaches Telula. "There was a big fight between us and the protesters." He explains with a large welt on his forehead. "We have more cuffs on the way. All of us ran out before we could arrest them all."

Telula lowers her hands as the security officer approaches. She glances around and, satisfied with how the staff are handling it thusfar, returns her attention to the security officer. "Are you alright, Ensign?" she asks. "That's a pretty nasty bump you have." At some point in this, her Medical Tricorder found its way into her hands.

The security officer shakes his head at Telula. "It's fine. It's nothing really." He looks at the protesters as they are brought it. "Half of these people don't even need to be seen." His comment is like venom. "They're just using this as an excuse to avoid the brig."

Telula frowns thoughtfully. "Is that your medical opinion, Ensign?" she asks, turning to look up at him with skepticism. Her tone suggests that she didn't appreciate the comment.

He points to a woman entering with a bruise on her arm. "Just look at her, doc. She's fine." The officer is still excited from the fight. "I've had worse training." He looks at Telula. "This is all over some stupid scientist! Did you see what it was like out there?" The ensign steps away and begins shouting at the bruised patient. "Hey! Lady. Where do you think you're going?"

Telula turns to look at her. Then the security officer. She inserts herself in between the security officer and the bruised woman. "That's enough!" she cries out. "What's your name, Ensign?" There is no universe where Miri Telula might intimidate a security officer, but she'll try.

The ensign is clearly shocked by Telula's confrontation. He almost instantly retracts himself from her and speaks with a softer tone. "You're seriously going to defend them, doc? Even after they just tried to tear up the station for some crook?" His hand swats at the air between him at Telula. "I'm fine. I have work to get done. I'll be back for them later."

"I asked your name, Ensign," Telula repeats, eyebrows hiked.

The security officer grumbles. "Mark Stone." He says softly.

Telula nods. "Mark," she repeats, tone softening. "I appreciate that you have had a difficult day." She nods a little, looking up at him with her dark eyes. "But coming into my Sickbay and treating my patients this way is not acceptable. That is not how we do things on Emissary Station." As she speaks, her tone continues to soften. "Right?" she asks.

Ensign Stone says. "Yes, sir. That's right."

Despite how nice this moment might be, Miri's face sours a little as she's called sir. "Mark?" she says. "It's Miri, okay?" She even has a smile for him!

The ensign nods. "Yes, sir." He says again.

Miri sighs and lets it go. She glances over the man's shoulder at the Bajorans being brought in and looks back at him. "Mark, listen," she continues softly. "I know you're trying to keep the peace, but look around you. These people aren't criminals. They're scared. And when scared people gather, they do things they wouldn't normally do, right?" She sighs again. "Are you sure you don't want someone to take a look at your head?" she asks.

The security officer considers Miri's offer. "I should get it looked at." He admits with a frown.

Miri flags down a passing nurse. "Nurse," she says. "Please take care of Ensign Stone."
