Temple walks into the medbay, he looks to be in a bad mood, he is holding a bloody nose and says "Where is commander Choma?"

Tilar is present, a PADD in hand. She is speaking to some of the medical staff, giving directions and pointing them to various places. By the sounds of it, it's probably inventory related. She looks over as the door open and blinks in surprise at the bloodied officer. "I'm not sure at the moment. I can find out for you. What happened?"

Temple looks around and says "The crew in Operations are uncooperative and one of them attacked me, they say they don't recognise Commander Choma as their CO, the claim they only answer to Commander H'riss"

"Oh for the love of..." Tilar groans and looks up at the ceiling, then turns to tap a few buttons on the panel nearby. "Okay. Well, it looks like Commander Choma is in his quarters. Come with me, and I'll fix your nose. In the meantime, I'm going to alert Commander Worthington."

Temple follows Tilar

Captain Temple arrives from Station Medical Foyer.

Tilar leads the way into the general ward and gestures to one of the beds. "Have a seat. Let's get you fixed up." She gathers a few supplies, bringing the equipment over to the bedside. "I think Commander Choma is unavailable at the moment. Commander Worthington is trying to audit his security personnel. There was a problem upon our arrival, and it looks like you've been caught up in it." She lifts the tricorder to do a quick exam before retrieving a regenerator to repair the damage. "I can come up to ops and help provide some context, if you like. Some of those personnel should recognize me at this point."

Temple nods and says "What sort of problem?" he allows himself to be treated by Tilar and says "I think Lieutenant Ryu is in Ops"

Lieutenant Ryu arrives from Station Medical Foyer.

"I'm unsure about how much information that I'm permitted to share, but the short version is that the handover was not smooth," Tilar says, working carefully to fix his injury. "There was a hostile presence upon our arrival that required some effort to get the station under our control." She nods at the news of Lieutenant Ryu being in ops. "That may indeed be the case, but you still got punched in the face. Is Lieutenant Ryu injured as well?"

Ryu walks gingerly into the Ward holding her side and says "Those security guards are out of control!"

Temple looks towards the arriving Ryu and says "I guess that answers your question" he ponders and looks at his uplink and says "I can deal with those security guards, I will have teh Tucker beam them into a brig"

And in comes Ryu, and Tilar blinks over at her. "That does answer that question." The Trill physician frowns and sighs, shaking her head. "I can also just go shoot them if all else fails, or release some anesthezine into ops," she says, gesturing for Ryu to sit on another one of the beds. "But it would seem that ops is still compromised. We can fix that."

Lieutenant (jg) Tilar utilizes the tools on Biobed (50187) to heal Captain Temple

Ryu looks to Tilar and says "The security in ops do not believe Commander H'riss is dead"

Temple blinks and says "Commander H'Riss is dead?"

"Well I can go up there and tell them, seeing as I'm the current doctor," Tilar says with a thin smile in Ryu's direction, giving Temple's nose a careful cleanup before nodding to him. "Better." Then she's turning to treat Ryu, nodding again at Temple's question. "Yes, Commander H'Riss is deceased."

Ryu looks to Tilar and says "I doubt they will believe you Doctor, and I seriously doubt they will listen to you, but feel free to go up there and talk to them"

Temple ponders and says "I will contact Captain Ki'Vek, shes on her way here to assist aswell, I best keep her advised on teh situation, I don't want her to receive the same welcome as I got"

Tilar shrugs one shoulder. "That's okay," she says calmly, carefully fixing up the wound on Ryu's side. "They don't have to believe me. They do have to follow orders. And if they don't, then we can go from there." She nods as the wound is repaired, straightening up and setting the tools to one side. "Let's see if I have any better luck than you did. You're both free to carry on with your duties." A nod is given to Temple. "Yes, that's a good idea. I'll let you know if I'm able to get ops under control."

Temple looks to Tilar and says "Take somebody with you up there Doctor, they are very uncooperative and that security officer isn't one you want to get on the bad side of"

Tilar gives Temple a small smile and nods to him. "I understand. It's been a very interesting few days," she says. "Which is why I am armed." She then nods to them both and turns to step out of the room.

Tilar says, "Operations"
Central Turbolift begins to move.
Central Turbolift gracefully comes to a halt.
A computer generated voice says, "Now at Operations."

Ops is understaffed, and those that are here seem more interested in playing console games than doing work. One guy in the corner is playing Galaga.

Tilar arrives in ops, the blue-uniformed physician looking annoyed. "Which one of you struck Captain Temple and Lieutenant Ryu?" she asks, voice rising to carry across the room.

The 6'9" security guard steps forward. "I asked them to leave, they refused, so I escorted them to the lift. They were both disturbing our work. They also spread lies about Commander H'riss being dead, blurted it out even, which is causing Karen some undo distress." he points at a human female that is sobbing uncontrollably.

Tilar looks up at the security guard, arms crossing in front of her. He might be taller than her, but she isn't inclined to flee. "So your solution was to strike two Starfleet officers," she says drily. "You will stand DOWN." One hand gestures about ops and the not-work being performed. She first points at the panel that's left open, conduits dangling. "Who is assigned to repair that?" Then she looks over at the sobbing woman. "You. Go to your quarters until you can calm yourself. I don't expect you to work while you're grieving." She then turns to look at the security guard again. "Unfortunately, it is not a lie. I'm sorry that this is upsetting and the information was presented in a distressing manner."

"I only hit the one when they called me a moron." The security guard replies, his tone quieter after being chastised. "That ensign (Temple) from the other ship tried to kick me, all I did was escort him to the lift." Karen screams out as the cry fest continues. She does head for the lift though. Her balling can still be heard as it descends the first few floors. The guard shrugs at you, "That has always been like that." He points at the panel you pointed out. "For at least the six weeks I've been here."

Lieutenant Castillo arrives from Operations Break Room.

Tilar steps to one side as the crying woman departs, giving her space to do so. "You are going to be called a great many things in your line of work," she tells the guard. "I suggest you start growing a thicker skin because punching someone for calling you names is going to get you written up." She then turns to look at the rest of the crew, sparse as it is. Moving to the center of the room, she rotates around, pointing at each of them individually to get an idea of what's going on. Each gets the same command. "You. Name and qualifications."

At the moment, Tilar has stepped off the turbolift after dismissing one of the officers. The Trill physician is apparently being quite bossy, one hand resting on her hip as she tries to get some semblance of order.

Not everyone snaps to as Tilar demands names and qualifications, but a the few who do respond, it becomes fairly clear none of them are Starfleet trained personnel, even though they wear the uniform and some even have ranks, albeit lower ranks. The guard, who is wearing a Starfleet crewman's uniform, says, "I arrived on a freighter 6-7 weeks ago and needed work. I was told to report here every day and guard things. I was only to take orders from Commander H'riss."

[Viewscreen (49961)] SS New Frontier drops out of warp.

Castillo steps out from the break room with a tired expression across her face. She walks towards the center of the room, carefully managing the steps that dip down lower than the outside edge. Her eyes watch as Tilar's hand as she points out each of the crew members. Once alongside the doctor, having caught up, she asks, "What's going on?" Voice low and hushed, trying not to totally interrupt the process.

Tilar listens to the replies she gets, nodding to each in turn. Her head tilts towards Castillo at the question and she leans over to reply softly. "Captain Temple and Lieutenant Ryu arrived with some injuries. I said I'd come up here and handle it. They didn't think I could." A small grin and a wink is given to Castillo before she looks back at the crew.

Once she has the information, she puffs out a small breath. "Okay. Well. That explains a lot," she says. "I'm sure many of you have seen me in the last week or two. Let me give you some clearer information, as it would appear at this point that you've all been conned." She rests her hands loosely in her pockets, turning to make sure she has the chance to address everyone.

"I am Doctor Viari Tilar. At this moment, you are all impersonating Starfleet personnel, which is a punishable offense. I understand that you likely were unclear on the nature of this situation, so I am going to speak to the actual commander of this station when I have some time. However, I need you all to immediately vacate ops and remove those uniforms," she says, voice raised enough to carry, but not with any real intent to shout at them. "Commander H'Riss was not acting in good faith, and performed some illegal acts himself that will be investigated by Starfleet. Any assistance you can provide, any evidence or promises that he made you, will be very well-received."

She then turns to the security officer again, approaching him. "I need you to do the same: Remove that uniform and leave ops. However, can I make one request before you do so?" Her eyebrows lift, waiting for his response.

As the news of H'riss' death is starting to sink in, there is far less rebuttal going on now. "I'm just wearing my undergarments under this, but I'll take it off as soon as I get back to my quarters, is that okay?" One person asks. The guard harumpfs at Tilar, "What is your request?"

Castillo nods at Tilar's explanation and watches as she delivers the news to the crew. She takes a deep breath as the group deflates. Her eyes flicking to the doctor, but then to the person who asked about the uniform. "That's fine." She answers with a gesture towards the turbolift. "We'll have someone swing by to collect the uniforms." A glance is given to the situation table, not injecting herself in Tilar's way, at least not any further.

The human approaches the table and asks, "Computer, where is Captain Temple now?" She gives a glance to Tilar, expecting the Captain to be in sickbay.

A computer generated voice says, "Captain Temple is not aboard this station."

Tilar gives a small smile and she nods. "Yes, that's perfectly fine," she assures the officers. "I'm doing my best to be reasonable, but this is a severe situation. Thank you very much for your compliance." Then she's gesturing to Castillo, voice rising again so she can introduce the other woman. "This is Lieutenant Castillo. She is our Chief of Operations, and a much more appropriate person to be managing this area. I'm going to leave her in charge up here until such time as Commander Choma is available. If you would rather speak to me, I can be found in the medical center, but I might put you to work doing inventory or scrubbing floors."

Then she turns to the guard and shakes her head. "Not a big deal. Just make sure that everyone is able to get to their quarters unmolested, and return any firearms you were given. Either to myself, Lieutenant Castillo, or the armory itself. We can't have phasers floating about, as I'm sure you understand."

The guard nods, "I can see people home safe. I was never given a weapon. Don't need one. Big fists. Hard head."

Castillo gives the situation table a narrow glare. She looks over to Tilar, checking to make certain everyone is actually clearing operations. "Doctor." Her voice calls, waiting for her interaction with the guard to appear done. "Unless you're incredibly busy...if you could stay here a moment."

Tilar gives the guard a nod of understanding. "Thank you, I appreciate that," she tells him. Then she looks over towards Castillo, hearing the computer announcement. "He may have returned to his ship. We have engineering teams arriving to help with repairs. Check the docking rings?" Then she nods to the guard, giving him a gentle gesture to go before she walks over to Castillo. "What's up?"

Castillo waits for Tilar to come up next to her. She keeps her voice down low. "Once they're out of here, I need you to find at least a couple of officers to fill their places." Her attention stays on the turbolift as people trickle out. "Look at the station roster and find people that have been here for a couple of months. Start with them."

"Verify their credentials against the computer before inviting them up." Her eyes jump to the viewscreen. "What do I need to know before I reach out to our friends?"

"It might need to be further back than a couple of months," Tilar tells her, nodding towards the lift. "That guard said he'd been here 6 or 7 weeks. I'd suggest going back at least three or four months. CAN we lock down the turbolifts yet? Restrict access to officers only? Or is that part of the issue right now?"

Then she looks over at the screen and hums thoughtfully. "Well, it's become very clear that Commander H'Riss gathered his own little motley group of people to do this. He had to have been planning this for some time. I suspect Captain Temple and Lieutenant Ryu were assaulted because these people are not Starfleet trained personnel, so when they were provoked, they lashed out. They didn't understand. It's possible there are more of those throughout the station, but I couldn't tell you how many."

Castillo nods her head along to everything Tilar has said. "Right now, we have almost nine-hundred people aboard this station." A pause. "That includes the civilian population. The optimum compliment for this classification of station is at least a couple of thousand crew." She manipulates the situation table to display an all-alarms diagram of the station. "I'm one of the first to complain if something doesn't seem right, at least, I think." Her eyes look to Tilar for a vote against her self-description.

"But, the reality of the situation...we have to be pragmatic." She explains. "I would guess that any of the long-term personnel are at least complicit with the prior administration. If we aim for people that have been here for a couple of months, there's a chance they know how to work the consoles. I'm trying to maximize their ability against the risk of them being compromised."

Tilar gives a quiet laugh and looks sideways at Castillo. "You do tend to err on the side of caution," she agrees with a grin. "It's not always a bad thing." She looks at the table as Castillo pulls up the display, looking over it. Her hands rest on her hips as she considers the display, pursing her lips and looking thoughtful. "It's definitely possible that they're complicit, but if the purpose of this was to gain power or prestige, he likely had a core group of people that reported to him directly. Spread that too much and you have to share."

Her head tilts thoughtfully and she glances sideways at Castillo. "So really, we have a couple choices here. Option A is to wait for Starfleet to send more crew, and to use the engineering teams that have arrived. Option B is to interview or otherwise assess some of the existing personnel, crew or otherwise, and enlist their aid. There are pros and cons to each of those two options. Option B is riskier, but would get us up and running faster."

"It's going to be a fluid situation. At least for the moment. A mix of your option A and B." Castillo says as she begins to analyze the station alarms. "We're going to need help from the engineering teams that have arrived. We're also going to need every set of hands we can find." She takes a deep breath. "I'll make a note to discuss the provisional appointees with Commander Choma, but for now, we're going to operate on the assumption, that other than those that were just dismissed, that they are legal and competent." Her eyes close and her facial expression tightens after making the statement.

Eyes open, more relaxed after stomaching the thought, she looks to Tilar. "I can't run operations alone, anyone...at least a couple months of experience." Her eyes to the nearby console. "If you find someone closer to a year on assignment, so be it. They need to start their way here ASAP."

"Do you want me to stay here for now?" Tilar asks her, eyebrows rising. "I don't know how much help I'd be; I might just get in the way, but medical is working on inventory and the like right now. They can call me if there's something they can't handle." She closes her eyes, forehead pinching together as she thinks through the options. "None of the people I dismissed were really doing anything. They were just sitting here. I don't think they're actually capable or qualified; I think it was a show." She opens her eyes, looking over at Castillo. "We're going to have to put out a call for any personnel who have been here for longer than two months. Maybe make an announcement and have them send their credentials up for review? Can you get the computer to filter the results for qualified personnel and how to route them so we don't have to interview them individually? 900 people is nowhere near enough, but it is still a lot of people."

Castillo shakes her head back and forth. She tries to simplify her request, returning her attention to the station diagram. "I just want you to look at the operations console." Her hand reaches across her body to point to it. "Find four names on roster, ones that have been here at least two months. At random. And call them here."

"Let me worry about their qualifications when they get here." She assures. "I'll be here to make certain nothing goes wrong." Her hand drops back to the table, manipulating it. "Then, once you've done that, you should head to medbay and manage things there."

Tilar nods at the clarification. "Got it." She flips through the list, searching for a few officers that match that description. "I think those people were likely conned. They wouldn't have been so compliant if they all had genuinely ill intent."

Her fingers fip through the list, and four officers are selected. Their profiles are sent over to Castillo, and she sends a message out to those personnel to have them report to ops immediately. Seeming satisfied, she nods and turns to look over at Castillo again. "Anything else I can do to help? Those people should be arriving fairly shortly."

Castillo nods in agreement with Tilar's first statement. She starts to go into silent work mode, not speaking for a few moments. Her head turns to Tilar after the request is sent. "If Captain Temple is down in medbay..." A glance is made to the internal sensor panel, not trusting it inside. "...please apologize. If he leaves..." She leaves it at that.

"I gave Captain Temple a very short briefing, but told him I wasn't sure how much I was authorized to reveal," Tilar tells her. "I also told him that he was free to leave the medical center. He suggested beaming the staff in ops to the brig, which I wanted to avoid. Fortunately, it appears that I was successful. If he's not on board, he might be back on his ship. He'd probably be happy to hear that the situation in ops is handled." She gestures around the room. "And now I am HAPPY to hand the baton to you, Lieutenant." A grin is given to Castillo. "This is YOUR area of expertise. I can boss people around and organize them, but I definitely can't run the place."

Castillo gives Tilar a nod, listening until the very end. "I appreciate the vote of confidence." She responds with a smirk. "I'll be here..." Her tone somewhat trapped. "...just call if you need anything."

"You too, Luz." Tilar reaches one hand over to squeeze her shoulder. "Call me if you need anything. I'll help where I can." She nods to her, giving her a warm, confident smile. "You got this. You know what you're doing. Far better than I do here." Then she nods and turns to head over to the lift to return to medical.
