Astrometrics <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
Astrometrics has some similar design elements to Stellar Cartography, but has many more additional stations for research and study. Still circular in shape, only one half of that is for displaying star charts and other stellar phenomenom. The rest of the space is adorned with both stand-up and sit down consoles.

Coil is busy looking comparing the images Anewan caught of the murals against star positions of worlds outside of the Federation, looking for similarities.

Shulon's antennae scope out the compartment as he enters, "Kellen", he says not overly loudly, "Hope I'm not disturbing you." He asks, "Is that the Kuvassian starmap?"

"It's what Jiemba provided, though how accurate it was when drawn I don't know," Kellen replies. "We know they aren't in Federation space, nor in neighboring empires, so I'm looking a bit further out and trying to recall anything Darias might have heard about them as well."

Shulon nods slowly, taking a look at the drawing first. "We're a long ways from Federation space. There is no telling which direction this drawing was even looking." His antennae curl over, "It might have helped if they used colours for the stars." He digresses, "Question, and hoepfully a quick one so as not to take you away from this. I proposed something to T'Shaav, and Ryu came up with a different solution that", he pauses, "give me pause. I'd like to run it by you."

Coil pauses his search, "The curious thing about this is that they managed to avoid notice of the Vulcans, otherwise we'd have more hints to work with. There weren't many warp capable races around at the time the humans were kidnapped from Earth. And it probably doesn't help that the Orion Syndicate, even back in it's early days, didn't like competition much."

"The Vulcans were never much for exploring", Chill says, an odd edge to his tone. "Not back then at least. Our two people were at odds as well." He summarizes his other thought, "Essentially I want an easy way to differentiate the people of Carorkin from any Terrans, well any crew but Terrans specifically, aboard the Phoenix. We'll have shuttlecraft and transports galore in the coming weeks, coming and going, allowing someone aboard to slip off the ship. My thought was, anyone in the Federation would have a marker, simply by eating our food, drinking our water, that a Carorkin wouldn't. Would that not be the case? Ryu suggested tagging people as they use the transporter, but that doesn't cover every way off the ship."

Coil thinks about that as he idly comments, "Vulcans were more for exploring until they realized they were surrounded by violent children like Terrans, Tellerites, and sadly Andorians. There's some interesting things in their archives. But in Vulcan fashion, they don't like to talk about their mistakes that resulted in the disagreements with your people and others." He frowns, "There might be a few things that differentiate them, but we'd need to run some scans. They were kidnapped before Earth discovered atomic energy and they haven't discovered it themselves. They may not have as many radioactive isotopes as the rest of us would, since most of our worlds did go down the path of atomic energy. We might have problems differentiating them from some of the people from colonies that never used atomic weapons, but those people should already have indepth bioscans on record just by nature of being part of modern life."

Shulon's antennae quiver slightly then curl, "Would internal sensors be able to detect those variances without much trouble? Or would it require a tricorder, or only during a transport?"

"That I couldn't tell you without looking at some bioscan data and even then one of then Mr. Ryu or one of the Doctors might be better suited," Kellen replies. "We are all bathed in radiation sources that they wouldn't have, unless the planet contains more radioactive elements than is typical and that isn't likely here in the gap between arms where it hasn't been bathed in supernovae. Even though we aren't using atomic energy here on Phoenix and our shielding is excellent, we're still exposed to radiation that they wouldn't have been."

Shulon nods slowly, "Alright, I'll go back to Ryu and see if we can fine tune this. I'd prefer something a little more, encompassing like this. Should it work. Thank you." He asks, "Anything I can do to help with the star gazing?"

Coil glances back at his work, "It'd help if we knew what other races they might have known. Did they run into Orions? Tholians? Bajorans?" He frowns as he thinks back, "Might have been a little early for Klingons or Romulans, but even knowing if they had run into those races would help narrow down which region to try to match the stars up against." He chuckles, "Thankfully, 600 years is nothing for a starmap. The stars have remained rather constant over my lifetime, so I'm confident that there's very little drift we have to account for."

Shulon asks, "Have you looked at any nearby stars? If they were coming out this way, there had to be a reason."

Coil frowns and shakes his head, "I'm not confident that this was their planned course, Chill. Tholian space is between here on Earth, and the Tholians have been warp capable longer than anyone's first encounter with them as far as I know. Even Darias had good reason to avoid Tholian space outside of established trade routes. It's possible they were out this way, but I think we would know more about them unless they were cut off by the Tholians and Breen." He pauses as he thinks about it and shakes his head, "I think I would've heard about them even then, though there are a lot of races that the Federation is barely aware of." He chuckles and gestures at the starmap, "Plus that's the side of space I spent my time gazing at as Selor. I haven't seen anything familiar just yet, but it's entirely possible that some of these are the same stars I used to look at and chart."

Shulon nods slowly, considering, "Well keep at it. The Kuvas have high hopes we'll find it. Jiemba literally told them we would." He asks, "Can I send anyone your way to assist?"

"It's just pattern matching right now, but on the off chance you're right that they intended to come out this way, I'll have the computer include Tholian and Breen space," Kellen says. "Once we get some possibilities, then it'll take people to look over." He glances at the image of the mural, "A shame they couldn't have included some other references." He looks over at Chill, "And why humans? If they were out this way, there's so many other races such as Bajorans, Cardassians, Ferengi, Trill, Betazoids, and so on. Why skip the local options?"

"That is something we might just have to ask them, if we get the chance." Chill replies. He nods, "Alright, I won't keep you from it. Good luck."

Coil nods slowly, "That's why I've been looking more to the north though. Not as many races out that way back at that time. The south was where the Orions were operating, and we already know enough about the east with the Romulans and Klingons. But I'll have the computer check out this way as well, just in case they did get cut off by the Breen and Tholians from Federation space."
