Somyk is seated at his desk, hands steepled before him. His head turns only slight to acknowledge your entry. He awaits you to introduce yourself.

Worthington enters and stands at attention facing the Vulcan admiral. "Commander James Worthington, reporting as ordered sir," he says.

Somyk is for the most part visually unresponsive, and makes no motion for you to stand at ease, or sit. "I have read your reports Commander, and those of your fellow officers. The expression is I believe, falling on ones sword. Do you have anything to add to your earlier statement?"

Worthington considers the admiral. "I tried to include as much detail as possible in my report, particularly concerning the transphasic usage, which I saw as my gravist error," he says. "The one thing I would add is unrelated to the incident, involving the use of the scattershot weapon and Phoenix tractoring the Orasea Lynatt out of the system, which all occured prior to the aspects of the mission concerning Tanama Bamoh, the Uaye rescue, and the transphasic usage."

"The situation in that region is unfortunate. A collection of species subjugated by others. The opposite of what Starfleet stands for." Somyk replies, "However, the destruction of Tanama Bamoh was not the only incident where the Protectorate lost forces due to USS Phoenix and her crew. However, Command has decided the other incidents were necessary, given the circumstances."

Worthington nods. "I understand sir," he says. "At least, I think I do. The theft of our technology presented a risk, not only for the region, but for other, as of yet, unsubjugated species, and potentially the Federation as well." He pauses. "If I am interpreting your statements correctly sir, you are saying the destruction of the Tanama Bamoh itself, should not have taken place, regardless of how it was achieved."

"The extraction of the data and recovery or destruction of all prototype equipment was the mission objective, nothing further." Somyk says. "Command is considering sending additional vessels into the region to observe, but that is not why you were called here today."

Worthington nods to Somyk. "Understood sir," he says. "Might I ask why we were called back?"

"Several factors." Somyk replies, "The use of transphasic torpedoes, and the public and internal outcry that followed required a measure, yet significant response. It was also determined removing USS Phoenix from the area was necessary to forego any further incidents."

Worthington nods to Somyk. "I figured our use of transphasics had something to do with it," he says. "And I know I will have to answer for it, in whatever way you deam prudent. I am just thankful that more damage was not done to Aeriatopia II, though as others have stated, we do not know what the long term effects will be. The incident was regrettable, avoidable, and should not have happened."

Somyk nods crisply, "You are correct, it should not have." He stares you in the eye for a long moment, "Your unfortunate command decision has resulted in a reconsideration of your future. You are eligible by time in grade for a promotion to Captain, and a posting had become available. However, that decision has been altered. Given your eligibility for a promotion, a reduction in rank is not called for at this time. Your time in grade will however be reset."

Worthington nods stiffly. "I understand sir," he says. "This is one decision I do not intend to make again, even if the tools were still available to do so." He pauses. "As for assignments, is Phoenix's recall meant to be short or long term sir? In other words, should we expect to be redeployed, or reassigned?"

"USS Phoenix will be receiving upgrades to its systems, therefore several members of its crew will be re-assigned temporarily. Those orders are still pending." Somyk replies.

Worthington nods briskly. "Understood sir," he says. "Is there anything else you require from me, or wish to communicate to me at this time?"

"That is all Commander, you are dismissed." Somyk remains in his stoic pose.

Worthington nods, salutes, and exits the office.
