Biography

Kellen Fishan was born on August 15, 2400 to Jor Fishan and Lena Monx in Mak'ala on Trill. He was the only child as his Mom's symbiont didn't really want to go through childbirth again as it was a little cramped due to her petite size, or so Monx always claimed. He had a fairly normal early childhood, as normal as having a parent with several hundred years of experience with which to guide his early learning.

The early guidance led to Kellen having an interest in the world around him and how it was made. As he moved into school, this interest led him into the sciences and his interest moved beyond Trill and to the universe in general. His scores in school were good enough that, while Monx did not pressure him, his Dad did until he finally enrolled to be a Trill Initiate.

While going through the Initiate process, Kellen left Trill to go to the Starfleet Academy. There he discovered a love of flying, which gave him some distraction from the prevalent attitude towards astrophyics and science cadets, plus ensured that he would have useful skills should he leave Starfleet to go do his own science experiments. The Symbiont Commission approved him to be a host in his final year in the Academy, though he would have to wait until after graduation before he would have a chance to be Joined.

In reality, it was nearly 2 years before a young LTJG Kellen Fishan was ordered to return to Trill, whereupon he was Joined with the Coil symbiont. After a bit of reorientation, he turned back to active duty and continued with his career in Starfleet.

Past Hosts:

Selor Coil -- Selor was an artist who inherited the Coil symbiont during the Dominion war. The traumatic experiences led to Selor to remain in seclusion, producing art that helped give Coil a catharsis to the memories of the previous host.

Darias Coil -- Darias was a trader who spent most of his live using trade as an excuse to travel around the Federation and neighboring regions to see new sights, learn new cultures, and broaden his horizons. Unfortunately, his ship fell prey to a Dominion attack during the war and it was only through luck that he was able to get back to Trill in time to save Coil.

Mara Coil -- Mara was a world renown cook on Trill. She brought various tastes from the Federation to the homeworld, mixing exotic with familiar in ways that still is talked about among the food critics of Trill. Her last trip to discover new foods ended when she sampled an exotic fruit that contained chemicals that disrupted the connection between Host and Symbiont over time.

Nalin Coil -- Nalin was the second scientist that Coil Joined with. While not an astrophysicist by early training, her physics and chemistry background provided additional insights on an experiment that Coil's first host, Loran, had started. Nalin was well published and often was asked to speak before conferences in her later years.

Sakran Coil -- Sakran was an aspiring poet, though unfortunately little of his work actually was published. Coil often blames itself for stifling Sakran's creative spark, being a young symbiont at the time and not adjusting well to the second Host.

Loran Coil -- Loran was Coil's First Host and an astrophysicist. Taking advantage of data gained by Trill explorers, Loran had some insights into stellar and planetary formation. Unfortunately, the necessary experiments to prove some of his more exotic insights would take centuries, a luxury that Loran would not have, though Coil would.
