Senior Officer Quarters 5P02 <USS Phoenix NX-170100>
The Vulcan has only made limited changes to the standard decor. A stone meditation slab and meditation nitche have been emplaced. The temperature and gravity of her quarters are also set to Vulcan norms, such that the air is warmer and drier, and the gravity heavier, than most are accustomed to.

The door chime at Out sounds, "*be boowoop*"

Ensign Campbell arrives from Deck 5 - Port Corridor.

Cass steps into the room, looking around in curiosity. She'd served with a few Vulcans before, and their rooms tended to be fairly Spartan... this room seemed to follow that norm. Spotting T'shaav, the Ensign has a look of concern on her face. "Hello, sir. How are you doing today?"

T'Shaav looks up from the padd she'd been reading from. She sits in one of her cabin's arm chairs. "Ensign Campbell," she greets, taking in the young Human. "I recover. Is something the matter? I do not often receive visitors."

"I was worried about you, sir. Your injuries and your... well... your state of mind." Cass gives a small smile. "A lot of the younger crew talk about you with somewhat intimidated awe but, well... I got to know you as 'Auntie,' first, so maybe that makes me different." She looks at the robes. "Those are pretty, sir. Are they typical for when you're off duty?"

"I am off duty as you say. So, you can leave off the formal protocols," the Vulcan says. "T'Shaav will do ... Unless you truly enjoy calling me auntie." Her eyebrow arches. Perplexing humans. She stands and walks to her replicator. "Sit down if you wish. Can I get you a refreshment?"

Campbell says, "A root beer would be nice, thank you." Cass glances around and takes a seat. "And okay. I do kinda like Auntie... but don't want you to think it's meant as a mockery. You kept me safe several times since I've been here, and it has sort of represented that for me. And then, of course, I went and blew you up on DS9." She looks up at T'Shaav. "I apologized to the others about that, but not you, yet. I was trying to get the assassin, but underestimated just how unstable the wiring on that Station was.""

T'Shaav replicates a root beer, sniffs it ... raises an eyebrow at it, and brings it over. "What were you trying to do?" She asks, sitting back down.

Campbell says, "I didn't have a weapon, but I had my tricorder and a console." She glances down at her hands, remembering how badly they had been burned, even though they had been well treated by the doctor. "But I'd been investigating the tech and knew that a simple overclock could cause the conduit behind the assassin to rupture. I was hopeful it would incapacitate him, or at least distract him enough to give you and the others an opening." She looks back up at T'shaav. "I messed it up. Best I can tell, the subsystem I overclocked was also connected to their primary shield generator, for SOME REASON," she snorts at Cardassian engineering, "and so the power surge was a lot bigger than I expected. It DID incapacitate him, but it hit a bunch of us as well. The feedback even gave me some serious burns.""

The Vulcan thinks about that. "As your mentor, Montgomery Scott might have noted, the station is old and its architecture and engineering design philosophy are far more Cardassian than anything else." A beat. "Get the door, if you would."

Ensign Campbell presses a button next to Out.

Lieutenant Chandler arrives from Deck 5 - Port Corridor.

Cass waves as the door opens, then returns to her seat, sipping a Root Beer while talking with T'shaav, perhaps oddly relaxed for an Ensign speaking with the Head of Tactical. She smiles. "No offense, Auntie, but I feel you're dodging my earlier question. I asked how you were coping with what happened... and you're diverting to discussion of DS9 tech." She tilts her head. "Is it... uncomfortable to discuss?"

Chandler makes her way into the room, pausing as she sees Campbell than smiles. "Oh...I can come back later if y'all are busy. I just wanted to see how the old broad was doing." So loving.

"Indeed," the Vulcan says dryly to Chandler. "Come sit down, Sybil. Do you want anything. I will get it if my arthritis allows." Old broad indeed.

Cass grins at Sybil's comment, as well as T'shaav's dry response, though her eyes stay on the Vulcan as she goes about taking care of her newest guest. Questions still not dodged, Auntie.

Chandler chuckles a bit as she moves to a sit, flopping down with a slight wince. "I'm good thanks. If I want something I'm sure I can get it. You need to rest or I'm gonna tell Doc."

T'Shaav considers. Then she decides to simply answer the ensign's question. "I have been considering that yours was not the only mistake to be made. had I acted differently, the first minister and Federation ambassador would certainly still be alive." A beat. "And we would not be contemplating total mission failure, as I doubt Bajor will join the Federation in the near future thanks to the ... confusion about those events."

Cass shakes her head. "Oh, I think I can set your mind at ease about that, at least. The Kai was coming around, and I'm pretty sure, from what I've learned of Bajorans, that when they were already so close to joining, her say so will be enough. There was exactly one woman on that station who could fix the damage the aliens caused... it was HER, and you saved her life, Auntie."

Chandler smiles a bit as she chuckles a bit. "I wouldn't stress too much. The meeting we had seemed pretty positive. So....let's not dwell on what we could have done but what we did do. If the Kai had died? THAT would have been a total mission failure I'm sure."

T'Shaav offers to Campbell, "In fairness, Cassandra, the way I read the reports, I believe our doctor may have been more directly involved in saving the Kai's life." She looks at Chandler. "And you were there as well? I was on the administration level." A beat. "But perhaps you are both correct. Still, I should like to know what Bajor decides."

For a second, Cass stiffens... "Cassandra" had always been her name when she was bad, except for... she chuckles... that one stern Aunt. She is having trouble stifling her laugh, but nods. "Yeah, me too. I hope the Commander is okay... and speaking of, Bajor needs a new Ambassador, now. Two, in fact. You gotta figure someone will put his name on a list of consideration, given his credentials."

Chandler sighs a bit as she shrugs. "I hope not...." A beat. "He's like....well he's family. I feel like he can't leave...." Then she chuckles a bit. "And heck I don't know how long I'll even be on here. If Kellen is reassigned because science is so whatever....I might just go with him....I don't know."

"Is that what you wish to do, Sybil?" The Vulcan asks. She gives Chandler one of her laser like probing looks. "That prospect does not seem to sit well with you."

Cass glances over at Sybil, a bit surprised herself. "Hmmm... you all have been in deep space a long time. Not a lot of room for transfers, but..." she bites her lip. "Folks back home are still a bit... on the fence... about the Phoenix, the return to exploration. We may end up Pariahs in Starfleet, as if scientific exploration was a virus and we were all carriers."

Chandler chuckles a bit as she shrugs. "It's whatever, right? I mean the reason I joined is technically done. However,I think that reason changed years ago. Hell...I was content to just....you know....be a shuttle pilot."

The Vulcan studies Chandler with something less than that laser like stare. She takes a moment to formulate her words. "And you have become much more. You have a talent and an inclination for security, I have noted. ... Recently noted again," she adds dryly. "And finding your father has changed you as well." A beat. "But I think you have also found a level of belonging and comradeship you have never had before."

The conversation has gone somewhat out of her depth, invoking stories she doesn't know, but she keeps her smile as the other two talk. "Yeah, and the kid sister who just showed up still wants you to fly the new runabout she's working on! So, you're still KINDA that, too."

Chandler chuckles a bit as she looks to Cass. "Yeah I know...but we have been a smidge busy." Winking she then stands up. Looking to T'Shaav she smiles a bit more than chuckles. "What can I say? My past comes in handy...." At that she turns, waving. "And it is a different type of comradeship." A beat. "I've been shot and stabbed a lot more now than I did when I was running around." With that she makes her way out. "Now....too rest off the last of this aching."

T'Shaav stands to see Chandler out. "Thank you for coming, Sybil. It was kind."

Campbell says, "Bye, Sybil. Good to see you again!"

Chandler nods then waves.

Lieutenant Chandler goes Out.

T'Shaav retakes her seat as Chandler leaves and considers you, judging, by the raised eyebrow, that you might have something else on your mind.

Cass smiles as Chandler waves out, then looks back to Auntie with her usual soft smile. "I guess I just wanted to make sure that you're all right. Mistakes were made, and I'm not sure what made Daniels think we were a good crew for the task, but..." she looks the Vulcan in those green eyes. "We made the best of a very bad situation. And with all our efforts combined... it kinda worked."

"If Bajor joins the Federation, I will agree that it worked," she says. She considers you. "Tell me something. Have you ever heard of, and I am sure you have, a construct known as the Guardian of Forever?"

Cass frowns. "Huh... yeah, I think I remember reading about it. A lot of lore mixed with science... Kirk's Enterprise ran into all kinds of strange things, eh?" She looks curiously at T'shaav. "Why?"

T'Shaav considers, her gaze a bit off in the distance. "Because the first minister and Federation ambassador were not meant to die. I can say that, since they were killed by beings from their future, not by beings from our present. I consider that it may be worth going back in time and saving their lives as well."

Cass blinks at that. "Would they even let us? Regardless of apparent 29th century policy, Starfleet seems completely against any meddling with the time streams." She grumbles. "I signed up for a class on Temporal Physics at the academy, and got denied by Temporal Affairs, due to my 'tinkering personality.'"

"I don't know. If we were going back in time to correct contamination caused by others who were, themselves, tampering with time, perhaps," the Vulcan says. "Tinkering personality?"

Cass chuckles. "When I was ten, I was given a model starship. I took it, cracked it open, rewired it, so it would be faster than my brothers. It worked, too... mainly by accident." She shrugs. "Working on the Selkie-class has been a dream, because I get to choose what goes where, what kind of power to use. They were scared I'd learn about it and think in terms of applications." She shrugs. "And they might have been right."

"Preventing you from taking temporal physics did not hinder your ability to learn," the Vulcan says. "I am no expert in temporal matters. But I reason that if the first minister and ambassador were killed by beings who should never have been there and were from the future, we have a duty to correct what they did."

"Yeah, but I'd be reinventing the wheel. Of course, with all these scans I have, I might start dabbling. Who knows?" Cass looks at her. "If you wish to make the attempt... well, I'll help you if I can, Auntie. That's a promise."
