The door chime at Out sounds, "*be boowoop*"

Lieutenant Commander Worthington arrives from Emergency Ward - Stardrive.

Nolan is minding the autopsy bay, going over samples

Worthington approaches. "I have something to look at," he says. "The question is, will anything come of it. I have the commbadge that belongs to our friend here," he says, pointing. "We'll need to see if we can find any DNA that's not his or any of ours. It may be a longshot, but we can't afford to leave any avenue unexplored. I've tried not to touch it with my bare hands."

Nolan nods. "Anything is worth a go" he says, producing a glass dish for the Commander to deposit the badge into.

Worthington drops the badge into the profferred dish. "Here it is," he says.

Worthington drops Johnson's Commbadge.

Nolan takes the dish and places it into the sample analyzer. "Where was this?"

Worthington nods. "Recently when we found it," he says. "It was discovered in the enlisted quarters 20P5."

Nolan sets the scanner up to do low level sweeps over the commbadge. "I would assume that is Johnson's quarters?"

Worthington nods. "One would think so, yes," he says. "I've learned not to assume though, not with these people."

"Sure, and I'm just asking out of curiosity I suppose" Nolan nods. "This'll take a while, I'm doing low and slow scans to avoid damaging evidence"

Worthington nods. "Understandable," he says. "I hope you can find something there."

"I hope so too" Nolan replies somberly. "Make something out of this"

Worthington nods. "I won't feel properly safe until that other one is also behind bars, and any others as well."

"You've got company in that sentiment..." Nolan agrees. "Anything else of note going on?"

Worthington nods. "We're prepping to conduct an away mission to Kuvassia III to assess the conditions there and try to make contact."

"Ah, interesting.. Unfortunately I'll probably have my hands full up here..." Nolan notes.

Worthington looks around at sickbay and nods. "That doesn't surprise me, and not in a good way," he says. "Too much murder and death for a fleet of starships, not just one."

"One murder is too much, but you already know that" Nolan counters.

Worthington nods solemnly. "I know that all too well," he says. "One murder is too much for me. This is a Federation ship, not a Klingon bird of prey. We have more respect for living beings than that."

Nolan shakes his head. "Well, no point in getting high and mighty about it... Nobody is perfect, we can all fall from grace one way or another if things line up. The brain is a tricky thing when it thinks it's got no options"

Worthington nods. "True, but I don't have to like it," he says.

"No you don't, which is why we spend every day attempting to defy whatever nature we possess" Nolan says. "But that's enough posturing for now I think"

Worthington smiles. "Indeed," he says. "What we really need right now are answers."

Nolan nods. "I'll see what I can make happen"

Worthington responds. "I know you will doc," he says. "And I'll do likewise."

"Anything else I can do for you Commander?" Nolan asks

Worthington shakes his head. "That's all doc," he says.

"I'll let you know what I find" Nolan replies.

Worthington nods. "Thank you," he says.

A soft alto feminine voice says, "Analysis complete. No foreign DNA detected."

Nolan looks over at the display and starts checking out the readout. "Hmm. Disapointing"

Worthington considers. "No DNA then?" he asks. "I figured it may have been a long shot."

"Yeah... Shame th-" Nolan starts to say but squints at his display. "Well... Hold on, maybe not. No DNA but there is evidence that this commbadge was washed in a solvent. Not readily apparent since this is a bio scanner, damned thing"

Worthington nods. "Is there any way to find out what solvent it is?" he asks.

Nolan humms. "Erzydine, an ethyl-acetate based solvent. Unfortunately common considering it's one of the go-to cleaners for just about anything sticky in the fleet"

Worthington nods. "Any idea how long ago the badge was cleaned?" he asks.

"Hmm.. Computer, can you cross reference the material data saftey sheet for Erzydine and determine a rough time of application?" Nolan requests.

A soft alto feminine voice says, "Subject material was repeatedly exposed. No accurate time table possible."

Worthington shakes his head. "Well damn," he says. "Though this does tell us something. It tells us that our crook likely utilized the badge several times while posing as Johnson, and he'd have cleaned it to prevent his DNA from being discovered."

"That's one way to look at it for sure" Nolan nods. "Sorry I can't be of more help than that really" Worthington nods. "I understand," he says. "I wasn't really expecting to find much there to be honest."

"Another inch closer is another inch closer" Nolan comments.

Worthington responds. "True enough," he says. "Though I'd like to inch close enough to drag that traitor to the brig by his collar," he says.

"We do what we can" Nolan nods

Worthington nods back. "Thanks for your help today doc," he says.

"Anytime" Nolan replies
