Around Stardate 109295 the Phoenix crew located an underground laboratory on a frozen planet. Within this laboratory they found evidence of experiments conducted by the Qee on a few different species. According to the personal logs by the head scientist at the Qee laboratory, experiments on a species known as the Abaward were the most successful.

There is little known about the Abaward civilization, their homeworld, or what they are really like as the only members encountered by the Phoenix were subjects of the experiments. These experiments left the Abaward docile, mute, and highly susceptible to suggestion. This, according to the Qee scientist, made them perfect servants.

A colony of approximately 270 Abaward were located on the planet Gaphistea II, a Qee controlled planet, but also where a floating Qee city was located. The Abaward were noted preparing meals and sending them up to the Qee city using a less powerful transport pod of Qee design. That is until the Qee city came under trouble and nearly wiped out all the Abaward on the surface.
