RP Log: Don't Look at the Starship Behind the Curtain

Main Street <Carorkon III>
Somewhat straight, this dirt path follows along the various buildings of the town center. For the most part the ground is loose dirt, with very little signs it has ever seen rain water. The only parts that are packed down, are the wagon ruts that go straight down the center.
If one didn't know any better, they would swear they just walked into an old west town of 18-19th century america. The typical store fronts are also here, including the barber, grocer, sherrif, and of course the saloon.



Anewan says, "We are going to find the Sheriff and have a conversation. Chill is getting short on patience," he says. Then he says quietly to Choma, "See if you can find a place to land a shuttle here."

Worthington looks down the street, spotting someone who looks like the sheriff, he moves in that direction.

A recent bar brawl has spread to main street, with the sheriff only recently breaking it up. His deputies haul a couple drunken patrons to the jailhouse to sober up.

Madhadaa looks around the town and the main street as he follows Worth with a nod to Anewan.

Anewan nods moving behind Worthington, "Sheriff....Sheriff. Do you have a moment?"

Worthington lets anewan do the talking, walking in front and moving toward the place where the sheriff is located.

Fudd's hand goes to his holster on instinct, as his name is called repeatedly. He turns to find the strangers, and a third stranger with them. "Dealing with some drunks, but the emergency is over now. What do you want?" he asks somewhat gruffly. "More history lessons?"

Madhadaa gives the sheriff a nod in greeting as he lets Worth and Anewan speak.

Anewan shakes his head, "You have a place to talk not in public. We have some..legal issues to address and don't want everyone to hear it."

Fudd says, "The jailhouse normally, but its a bit busy now. I don't think the barbership is locked. Whats this all about?"

Worthington considers. "Best if we don't discuss it on the street sheriff," he says. "Trust me though, it will be worth your time."

Barbershop <Carorkon III>
There is only one barber in town, so only one barber chair. There is a wooden bench along one wall for those waiting their turn. Hair clippings litter the floorboards, and a circular stain marks the floor around the barber chair.
Simple cloth curtains adorn the windows looking out onto main street. Although the windows are dusty and difficult to see through. A hand crafted mirror adorns a small portion of one wall, the glass warped, giving a very unclear reflection.



Fudd walks around the single barber chair to face the three of you, "Now what is this all about?"

Anewan enters after the Sheriff and says, "There are a few things to discuss. I have to revisist our previous discussion. I said we were from the north and we were considering a way to get back to Springfield, I wasn't joking. James, watch the door."

Worthington nods. "Understood," he says.

Madhadaa looks around the shop as he listens to Anewan and the sheriff.

"I thought you said these were legal matters. I don't have all night to play games with you people." He looks to make for the exit.

Anewan holds up a hand, "I promise you. You want to hear this. We found you. We want to know if all of you want to go back to springfield. All of you," he turns to Choma and gestures to him, "We cna prove it. Tell me what he is thinking Harold. We are from a place close to Springfield."

Worthington nods. "Have you considered sheriff, the broader society your ancestors, that one town, came from? Have you given thought to what became of that society, that planet of humans, over the past 700 years?"

Madhadaa fixes Anewan with a look at the instruction to play mentalist.

Fudd laughs, "You have been drinking. Come with me, you can cool off in the jailhouse." He heads for the door, the only thing stopping him is Worth's in the way.

Madhadaa replies to Fudd, "There's no need to think about shooting us, Sheriff. We know you're busy, though I'm sure your deputies are capable in your absence."

Anewan gestures to Hatter, "How do you think he did that? What can we do to convince you?" he looks at James and hesitantly gives him the 'don't let him out' motion.

Worthington nods, standing facing the sheriff, keeping his senses alert. "We have other means to prove this to you as well sheriff, but fare warning, it may be somewhat of a shock should we show you."

Fudd stops as he gets as far as Worthington, "I saw a woman once with a crystal ball predict another woman would give birth to twins. Its not so hard to reason the Sheriff might be tempted to pull his sidearm when cornered by three drunks. Now get out of my way."

Madhadaa says to Anewan, "This isn't working and the Sheriff's patience is too thin to listen to us now. Maybe I should bring my, erm, 'wheels' down and maybe that'll get his attention for you."

Worthington considers. "We could just bring him aboard. Far easier, less time consuming," he says.

Anewan nods to both and repeats to the Sheriff, "What would convince you? Transport us all up James. Let's leave his weapons behind. Harold," he say with bemusement. "Get your wheels ready. We are going to need them."

Worthington reacts quickly without hesitation.

Swirls of energy whip around your deconstructed body. Shimmering lumination dances about your form uncontrollably, dazzling every sense.

Transporter Room One <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
The first feature of this room that catches one's eye upon entering is the large circular dais located to the left of the entrance. The transporter platform is marked with placeholders for six people, and the ceiling above is fitted with a variety of equipment to aid and assist the transport process, as is the platform itself.
Opposite the transporter platform on the other side of the room is the transporter control console, which bestows the system operator with a variety of tools to fine tune the process. The curved console is set into a circular platform, in much the same manner as the transporter system itself.

Fudd reacts to just about everything at the same time. Now finding himself no longer in the barbershop, and without his weapons. "What in blazes!?" He is stunned by where he is, the look of the place so alien to him. "What is this trickery!"

Anewan opens his arms and says, "We are not from here and we need your to help pass the message on. We will take you to wherever you like but we would like" he changes to starfleet jargon, "Lieutenant, get your bird ready. Commander, get properly armed." he turns back to Fudd, "You are now on our ship from...springfield, is the best answer I can give. Pinch yourself, you are not dreaming."

Madhadaa murmurs to Anewan, "Too sudden, sir." He nods at the order, "She'll be on the deck in the open by the time we get down there."

Worthington nods. "Sheriff," he says. "Welcome aboard the Federation Starship Phoenix of the United Federation of Planets. Earth, your homeworld, my homeworld, commander Anewan's homeworld, is one of the founding members. This is where we've been these past centuries." He nods to anewan and heads out.

Fudd continues to look around, "There are no bodies of water large enough on the planet to need a ship this size. More trickery."

"Wrong kind of ship, Sheriff," Hatter says. "We're above the planet right now. Maybe we should go find a window so you can see for yourself."

Worthington smiles as he walks in. "In fact, the forward conference room on this deck has such a porthole," he says. "This is the kind of ship that can travel the nearly 7000 light years back home. That's, well, trillions upon trillions of miles. May sound like trickery to you, but hell, come see it for yourself."

Anewan rolls his eyes, "What.." he pauses. "We are from earth. We found you. We can prove that Springfield is still there. We need your help," he points to Worth in uniform. "We are the Federation. We seek to help," ne nods, "But we can show your as they have suggested."

Fudd is dumbfounded and somewhat aghast with the influx of information, of what this could all mean. He pulls himself together enough to say, "Lets see this window view, you boast about."

Madhadaa steps out of the way to let the commanders lead the way.

Worthington smiles. "This way please," he says. "By the way, My name is James Worthington, chief of security and tactical aboard this ship."

Deck 1 - Aft Corridor <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
The corridors of the vessel are spacious and allow for easy access throughout the ship. The walls and bulkheads are an unpainted titanium that reflects a natural blue-like tinge. This is accentuated by horizontal and vertical inlays in the walls of a slightly darker blue tinge, creating a half-meter square tile-like effect. The carpeting down the center of the corridor is a deep maroon with a thin band of light-grey trim, then to the walls it is a roughly a half-meter wide mocha-colour. Recessed lighting in the ceiling and along the floor boards provides ample illumination, adjusting in colour as the alert status of the vessel changes. Black, glossy panelling runs intermittently along the bulkheads at shoulder height, allowing access to the LCARS interface.



>Intercom< Anewan says, "Be Advise, this is Commander Anewan, we have a visitor onboard. A human from the surface."

Fudd touches the wall, testing if its real. He jumps as a voice is broadcast all around him.

Worthington smiles. "Oh, that's just an intercom comm panel. Transmits voice messages across the ship. Come, we'll cut through the main bridge. It's the only way through," he says.

Main Bridge <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
The main bridge is divided into three sections. Far to fore is an open area before the large viewscreen. This area also doubles as a walkway between the Captain and XO's offices to starboard and port respectively, the bridge staff breakroom to port, and a doorway to starboard which leads to the forward corridor and the conference room.
The central section, raised a single step from the forward section, is accessible from both sides. To the fore of this section are the helm and operations stations, with the XO, Captain, and Mission Specialist chairs at aft. The latter three stations are enclosed in a horseshoe like shape.
To both sides of the central horseshoe shape are ramps that lead up to the highest and largest tier of the bridge. On the starboard side is the engineering station with a large L-shaped console, and the damage control station behind it. To port is the communications station, again with a large L-shaped console, and behind it the science station. At the aft side of the horseshoe shape is the tactical station, and along the back wall are multiple auxiliary stations. Access to the saucer turbolift and a doorway leading aft are also available on this tier.



Worthington points out the various bridge stations. "This is where we command the ship. I could show you the planet on the viewer, but a more natural sighting is fitting," he says, heading down the ramp and out the forward door.

Conference Room - Deck 1 <USS Phoenix NCC-170100-A>
This large compartment is specifically designed for senior staff meetings. The focal point of the space is a large mahogany table surrounded by ten high-backed leather chairs. There are three viewscreens, a large one on the aft bulkhead, and two smaller ones to port and starboard. The forward bulkhead is primarily transparent aluminum, with a stunning view down the front of the saucer section.
Out the viewport: The yellow hue of the nearby star can be seen.



Fudd only sees the table at first, but eventually the view out the window can't be missed. He walks around the table and approaches it slowly. "The night sky, but how?"

Worthington smiles. "That technology is one that's not so advanced, a window," he says. "This room is equipped with conferencing equipment, basically, it helps us organize information for senior staff meetings. The ship is in what we call a standard orbit. That means, we are parked over a portion of the planet. The device that brought you on board is called a transporter. It is how we move around." he takes a seat and activates a console. "We have a law called the prime directive, that prohibits us from interfeering in the natural development of a species, and especially from making contact with a pre warp, that means, a society unable to travel faster than light." He pauses. "This is an exception to that law, as this society was created by direct intervention from a technologically superior species, plus, you are humans, and therefore, citizens of the Federation should you choose to return home with us." He points to a viewscreen. "This is your planet, from high above it."

Fudd is still amazed by the view of the stars, it takes him a while to turn to see the viewscreen, "Prime what?" he asks. "you travel how?" Fudd is confused by the influx of information. "Faster than light? As fast as a bullet you mean?"

Worthington smiles. "It's as good as an analogy as any. Imagine a bullet, the speed of it's travel, and then multiply that by so many times that light itself just, warps around you, stretching into lines behind your passage. It's truly a remarkable experience to watch a ship travel at what we call warp speed, even though we've been doing it now for 4 centuries." "That fellow who did most of the talking on the planet, that's commander Anewan. He's our diplomatic officer. We are on a deep space exploration mission, and were rather shocked to find a group of humans not in our records, so far from home."

"So you are saying, you are from the same place as my ancestors? Springfield?" Fudd asks. He doesn't know what he is seeing on the viewer, other than a ball, he is still more interested in what is out the window. "I didn't know there were so many stars, why are they so crisp and clear?"

Fudd is looking out the window, while a view of Carorkin is on the viewer.

Worthington nods. "Not the town itself. Our records show that the town was believed lost to a native American attack, I believe you called them, Indians?" he asks. "The same planet though. Perhaps your people don't remember the various countries, the United States, Great Britain, and more. I'm from the city of London." He takes a pause. "We founded a global government in our 22nd century, around 300 years ago. As for why you can see the stars so clearly. When on the ground, there's gas and other things blocking your sight. It's called light polution. In space, there's no such hinderance to sight, and you can see quite clearly." Worthington is talking to Fud about a variety of topics.

Anewan enters and simply watches Worth explain the says, "There are more of us."

Fudd asks, "Why are you here, telling me all this, and showing me these things?"

Worthington nods to fud. "We are here, we are showing you these things, because there is an offer for all people on this planet. If you choose to, you can go home," he says.

Anewan adds, "We have no real reason. I believe I said, we found you, quite by accident. We want to know if you wish to go back to earth. If not, we leave."

Fudd says, "Ive never left Duhring, now you want me to up and leave my home to go to someplace that is only a distant memory of history." He shakes his head, "This is all too much."

Worthington nods. "You're handling it quite well actually," he says. "You're right, it is quite a lot. We just showed you a 7 century advancement in technology, something beyond what you could likely imagine. We definitely don't expect you to take all this in overnight. But, we would ask that you take some time to at least consider the offer. Consider what your society wishes to achieve here. What resources you may gain, how you may advance and develop as a people, and what we offer. We will not force anyone to leave against their will, but we will happily take all who wish to return to their ancestoral home."

Anewan nods towards Worth, "I am not asking anything. We are simply telling you that the myths are reality. There is still a place. And frankly, it is better than this place."

Fudd asks, "Better?" He looks around, "Because you have magic?"

Worthington smiles. "It's not perfect, no society is. This isn't magic, it's technology. Imagine your revolver, and what an ancient Greek soldier fighting in the Trojan war would have made of it, when all they had was a bow and a sword." He pauses. "Earth objectively has more resources, or did in our time, and that helped us technologically develop. We have formed as a result, a vast, multi species Federation. I understand that your only contact with another species was your own enslavement. This likely has tainted your view of non-humans, or at least, I can imagine how it could, but just as war is a possibility, so is peaceful coexistance. It's one of the founding principles. We prefer diplomacy and mutual cooperation over conflict, as we have found that when this is achievable, we can work toward the mutual betterment of all involved."

Anewan nods at Worth, "No Magic Sheriff. Just a lot of time to advance. We only want to give the option to everyone on the planet. We need your help."

Fudd asks, "My help?"

Worthington nods. "Yes sheriff," he says. "You are an authority figure in Duhring. We figured that given your past, given how it was advanced technology that brought you here, given that your people were enslaved, we figured that a show of our technology may bring up fears of another enslavement, and we do not wish to provoke the populus. Showing ourselves openly in town like that would likely not go over well. You are one person. We can show you our ship, our technology, what we have to offer. We can't do that so easily with 11000 people. However, we can do that with some people and spread the word. Are there any basic supplies that are lacking? Food, water, medical care? These are things we could provide." He smiles. "Remember, you wanted to toss me in the drunk tank. Imagine what the rest of the people would think if I walked ddown main street claiming to be from another world."

Anewan nods, "Yes. You."

"No one will believe me if I tell them what I saw here." Fudd says, "I don't know that I believe it."

Worthington considers. "We would like to find a way to show your people without all of them wanting to shoot us on sight," he says. "We are still puzzling that one out."

Anewan nods, "That's fine. We will help you figure it out. James, send him back to the surface, same place. With his guns. We will be around. Just tell them that there is away back to springfield."

Fudd says, "Well I'd like to go home now, if that's possible. I don't think people will believe me, unless you bring them up here as well, or show them something equally as magical. But, you aren't wrong, some will not take to this kindly."

Worthington nods. "Sheriff, if you will please follow me," he says.

Fudd nods.

Worthington returns the man his revolver. "I'll drop you in the barbershop. Hopefully noone is there. Will check first," he says.

Fudd shrugs, "As I'll ever be."

Worthington nods. "Hope to see you soon sheriff. We'll keep in touch," he says, and waves.
